Opening book vs/+ endgame database = self-learning

Hi dears programmers, I thought about something, an hypothese. Before i will ask something : What is the difference between an opening book and an endgame database? ie opening book isn't to have a good or perfect opening game and endgame database to have a perfect endgame? If, and i suppose it, we g...

Re: Search depht and nodes/s

Hi Krzysztof, I am not sure of my understanding. Do you consider it is not a good idea to use "learning" concepts for improving draughts program ? Hi Gerard. It's a good idea just how to put it into practice for the draughts. As for the Alphago program, see how many he used the processors and how l...

Re: Search depht and nodes/s

Happy new year Sidiki and all programmers. Of course speed allows to find the best move in less time but speed is just one minor point when judging the strength of a program. In addition the number of position per second is the worse criteria to take into account for a simple reason: let's compare ...

Re: Internet engine matches

Have you Damage 14.0? That's what you. I will write something I think, but I'm not sure how much truth is in it. Bert, the version he won with the Scan program did not make it available to anyone. Why I think so. Because I played a few games with Scan and the program was lost every time. I will wri...

Not because the engine does not have a 7 figure base only 6.
You put bb-size=7, ok
Have you Damage 14.0?

All this is my guess - and I can be wrong in what I am writing below.

book = 0
threads = 1
tt-size = 24
bb-size = 7
bb-preload = 6

The Scan played with threads = 1 or threads = 4.
So Scan has 7 egdb?

Re: Distance to Win, MTC, endgame database

Most stronger program don't see the win, but Kingsrow with MTC database see the win, Flits also. But with the normal 8egdb Kingsrow don't see it. When you say "see the win", I don't think you mean "sees that the position is a black win". Kingsrow can see that this is a black win. What you mean is t...

Re: Self-learning and monte-carlo Algorithm

If you have doubts, you can post some links and I will have a look. Some of the confusion is understandable. "learning" is a vague term: it's supposed to describe programs that improve with time. For example, a learning program might get better at solving combinations the more you use it. By contra...
