Re: NNUE

In the meantime I'm retired ( :D ), and spent much time during the last months to relocate from Switzerland back to Holland. So now i restarted work on the Damage engine. Yesterday (and tonight) Damage 16.1 (nnue version) played a match (158 games) against Scan 3.1 Match settings 65 moves/1 minute,...

Re: NNUE

We will be glad to accept all the update, if you give us this chance. Scan had many versions since 1.0's. I don't know if you know that Kingsrow latest version it's now 1.63 since 2nd july. Just to said that we are with all each of you that permit to us to have the update. A program will never be p...

Re: NNUE

Hi Joost, This it's already very, you know that programs are like a plaint board, it can't never be perfect. The author must all the time add or remove something and this it's a question of time. We will be glad to accept all the update, if you give us this chance. Scan had many versions since 1.0's...

Re: NNUE

By clipping the network weights and biases after each batch between -0.99 and +0.99 and retraining the network (which took about 1 day) the network quality with int8 quantization improved quite a bit. Maybe not clipping the biases could be better because I use 32 bit for these in the inference code...

Re: NNUE

Hi Joost, This it's a great improvement, good work. It show that NNUE have a chance to have a place in draughts world. It's certainly interesting. However, I don't think that it will improve the level of play. In my opinion programs like Kingsrow and Scan are already at the highest level reachable....

Re: NNUE

With very short time-controls (6 seconds per game) and single-core NNUE networks remain somewhat weaker than N-tuple networks. This is basically a speed issue, the speed difference of a factor 3 is difficult to overcome. However, with somewhat longer time-controls (1 minute per game) and multi-core...

Re: The Unofficial World Championships Of Computer Programs In International Draughts Blitz 2020

Since the NN remains slow the idea is to gain some time by adding a book, not to have it play stronger moves from book. At the level of Kingsrow gaining time does not seem to give an advantage anymore, maybe it could help with bullet games or when running on very slow hardware. For my chess engine ...

Re: NNUE

Very very good result coming from NNUE, I Just downloaded the pdn of dxp game. Good work. Friendly, Sidiki Thanks! Yesterday I found out that in the last match I forgot to enable Kingsrow's EGTB while in the previous match it was enabled. Maybe this explains the better result. There is still a lot ...

Re: Scan - new version

I wonder how the user of the Scan 3.1 program is informed that the same position has occurred three times. Scan 3.1 hasn't this feature. I think that the only way to know it, it's to look at the game. Or with the score to see that it's a draw, because, if i don't wrong, you want to speak of a draw ...

Re: NNUE

Hi Sidiki, This is not so easy to answer because there are many ways in which you can train a network. Like Alpha Zero you can start with a random network and have the engine play a number of games against itself and update the network on the fly depending upon the outcome of the games. This is cal...

Re: NNUE

Hi Joost, I downloaded the pdn and 5 lost in 1 minute it's already very good. Ares 1.2 it's on good way like Damage and Scan NNUE. I want to know something, this question it's for you all, i will be glad to have your different ideas: NNUE it's based on a file that contain all the win/draw/lost posit...

Re: NNUE

I am thinking about one question. How can GUI Damage be connected to the Scan 3.1 NNUE engine. I would like to see the speed and variants calculated by the Scan 3.1 NNUE engine. Hi Krzysztof, You can, before Damage Gui's finish for Scan31_nnue.exe, activate évaluation and board in scan.ini to see t...

Sidiki,

apparently your processor does not seem to support avx2, in which case it wont run my implementation of nnue.

Bert
Thanks Bert,
