Dat was inderdaad al lange tijd bekend. Zie p.21 van Dammen in Opbouw dl.4 (diagram 31). Die reeks boeken zijn trouwens erg goed voor je eerdere vraag over damboeken waarin de aard van het spel aan bod komt (niet geheel onverwacht met top-auteurs als Wiersma, Scholma en V.d. Kooij).

Rein, interesting posts. I tend to agree that in the end nn or nnue is a better abstraction for an evaluation function. Ok, I did some more calculations. With a 64-core Threadripper (~$4K) and leading squares indexing, you can do 9 pieces in 90 days and 192 Gb of RAM.
