Hi,

I would like here to propose the following challenge: are your program able to help the humans in analysing the following game played during the last world championship.

FYI, after several hours (!), Damy detected nine mistakes : after a first losing move from white, Damy found on four occasions a black drawing move followed more or less quicky with another white losing move.
What is your analyse?

Hi Krzysztof,

Did you try to analyse this game with the various programs you have?
What are your results for the different programs?

Hi Gerard,

Kingsrow, Dream, Aurora Borealis and also Truus have this option to find the bad(s) move(s).

Gerard, could you post the diagrams of mistakes found by Damy? This might elicit more response.

Hi Rein,

As far as I am concerned, when a challenge is proposed, I always prefer to find the solution without any help!
To give the solution is no more a challenge is it?
I posted this challenge on Sunday 15 oct. Is it acceptable for you to have the solution only after a week, i.e. on Sunday 22 oct in order to give anyone enough time to try and solve the problem without any help?

Hi Gerard. My 8-core is busy for the next few weeks, so I ran an analysis of the game on my laptop, giving each move a 5-min search. I truncated the PVs to allow the output to fit better on the screen

Looking at the output, we can see that kingsrow sees these likely mistakes:

43. 31-27 draw -> probable BW
46. .. 19x50 BW -> drawish
53. 6-44 draw -> strong for black
53. .. 34-12 strong for black -> probable draw
69. 17-50 draw -> strong for black
73. .. 48-30 BW -> draw
79. 40-34 draw -> BW
79. .. 28-46 BW -> draw
80. 48-26 draw -> BW

Kingsrow analysis starting at move 42:
Code:

Hi Gerard. My 8-core is busy for the next few weeks, so I ran an analysis of the game on my laptop, giving each move a 5-min search. I truncated the PVs to allow the output to fit better on the screen

Looking at the output, we can see that kingsrow sees these likely mistakes:

43. 31-27 draw -> probable BW
46. .. 19x50 BW -> drawish
53. 6-44 draw -> strong for black
53. .. 34-12 strong for black -> probable draw
69. 17-50 draw -> strong for black
73. .. 48-30 BW -> draw
79. 40-34 draw -> BW
79. .. 28-46 BW -> draw
80. 48-26 draw -> BW

Kingsrow analysis starting at move 42:
Code:

That's good news because Damy identified exactly the same 9 positions.
The only difference is that you used the wordings "probable", "drawing", or "strong" where Damy claim to a 100% sure result, but I do not doubt you will reach cerrtainty with your prefered environment!
