Re: Coding issues

Hi Gérard, I would recommend using const which is not allocated in memory, but is followed by a type such that the compiler can perform type checking. Also I would recommend to use unsigned integers when doing bit mask operations. Actually this is more-or-less a must when you start to shift bits in ...

Re: Sjende Blyn - question

Hi Jelle. I have a question. Please write whether the Sjende Blyn program will be able to run without problems on the processor AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950x. Thank you for information in advance. I assume it will, but to use all 16 wonderfull cores, you will need an update. I will send it to you by...

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2018

I think that Gérard was referring to last year's discoveries. We established that Joost and the authors of Edeon Sport were using Scan's evaluation. Joost wrote about it openly on the forum. I am thinking whether or not the Edeon Sport program would use some function from the Scan program to by at ...

Re: The Unofficial World Championship Of Computer Programs In International Draughts 2018

Hi Krzysztof,

Is the Damage program a new program from Bert Tuyt?

After your tournament in 2017 there was discussion about whether Edeon Sport was illegally using Scan's evaluation (taxation of position). Any news on that?

Re: Announcement of computer draughts tournament in Leiden, June 3, 2018

From Leo Nagels on May 8th: Hi everyone, In the last two weeks only Gijsbert Wiesenekker/Klaas Bor with GWD registered. Ton Tillemans announced he will participate only if his health allows. So we only have 5 participants for sure. That means, that I am sorry to announce that the tournament will not...

Re: Computer Olympiad 2017 Draughts

Hi Jelle, Are you interested by knowing if (15-20) is a winning move or not? If yes did you find another white move in the line above on which white might reach a draw? It's a bit different: ... 15-20; 32-27 7-11; 16x7 12x1; 21x12 18x7; 30-25 33-38; 44-39 23-28; 45-40 and indeed likely for black to...

Re: Computer Olympiad 2017 Draughts

Game Cerberus - Sjende Blyn In the game black played 17-22 and did not manage to win. Damy proposes 15-20 with the following PV (15-20) 32-27 (15-20) 30-25 (7-11) 16x7 (12x1) 21x12 (18x7) 36-31 (33-38) 44-39 (7-12) with probably a win. I'm not sure it's a win, but after 62 seconds Sjende Blyn switc...

Re: Computer Olympiad 2017 Draughts

Well, it's always a dilemma to claim a win based on the clock or not... However, the fact is that we use a clock(!) and that Moby Dam had to play 20-30 moves or so in only 2-3 minutes. This still would have been possible, if Moby Dam had just went for the draw. But, the program was optimizing for ma...

Re: Computer Olympiad 2017 Draughts

Congratulations to Fabien. Would like to ask something that interests me. Please write how someone knows what program I use Jaap Bus during the tournament. Jaap Bus uses a simple excel sheet to track the results of the games (it does not include Sonnenberg-Berger, so it took us some time to figure ...
